The new leadership structure reflects Bloomberg Media's new strategy to expand its global media footprint beyond television to multiple media platforms. Ravindranathan's appointment will ensure Bloomberg's consumer media content, ad products, distribution and licensing deals are carefully tailored to serve each distinct, individual market. The new management structure is part of Bloomberg's new global media strategy, first outlined by Justin B Smith, CEO, Bloomberg Media, in March. Ravindranathan assumes his new role this week, and will be based in Hong Kong.

Over the last three years, Ravindranathan has led Bloomberg TV in Asia Pacific, expanding its commercial partnerships and delivering a strong, award-winning product. In his new role, Ravindranathan will apply his entrepreneurial spirit to all Bloomberg Media properties in Asia-Pacific markets, across TV, digital and live events. Before joining Bloomberg, Ravindranathan worked at Al Jazeera in Qatar and CNBC-TV18 in India.

"Our global assets are already unrivalled in the media industry but we are reaching for the next level by investing and expanding around the world. We have major ambitions in Asia and we are appointing now, for the first time, a leader to oversee all operations in the region. Parry has proven himself to be one of Bloomberg Media's most entrepreneurial leaders, with a keen eye for identifying opportunities for monetisation and expansion. He is going to bring his leadership to all our platforms -- web, mobile, TV, digital video, print and live events -- with an emphasis on developing our new digital channels and audiences," says Smith.

Ravindranathan adds, "We have an incredible opportunity right now to take Bloomberg Media to the next level of growth in Asia. We will continue to build on the successes of our various media properties and the strength of our content, talent, local programming and partnerships. There is a real opening for us in this region to make an impact with global and local audiences, and build a digital-led, multi-platform media company that will continue to invest and innovate for years to come."
