GEC Watch: Colors retains the third position amidst declining viewership

Almost all the general entertainment channels - barring Star Utsav, Zindagi and Sahara One - saw a decline in viewership.

Viacom18's flagship Hindi GEC, Colors, which rose to the third spot on Week 30, has managed to retain its position despite a decline in viewership. According to TAM data (C&S, HSM, 4+), provided by a subscriber, Colors got 3,75,025 GVTs in Week 31 as opposed to 3,97,824 GVTs in the previous week.

Star Plus maintained its lead in the genre. The channel closed the week with 6,76,578 GVTs in Week 31 compared to 7,09,317 GVTs the previous week. Zee TV held on to the second spot as it concluded the week with 4,38,207 GVTs down from 4,38,914 GVTs last week.

At No 4 is Life OK that garnered 3,11,423 GVTs compared to 3,60,675 GVTs in week 30. Sony Entertainment Television follows with 2,75,107 GVTs, down from 2,88,358 GVTs last week. SAB TV, meanwhile, remained at the sixth spot with 2,65,377 GVTs compared to 2,75,380 GVTs in the previous week.

Star Utsav gained in viewership as it closed the week with 86,695 GVTs against 81,046 GVTs last week. Zee Anmol clocked 74,095 GVTs as opposed to 80,731 GVTs last week. Zee Entertainment's recently launched channel, Zindagi, which airs shows brought from Pakistan, was the second gainer as it clocked 24,990 GVTs, up from 22,953 GVTs in the previous week. Sahara One ended the week with 14,973 GVTs compared to 14,462 GVTs last week.

Coming to shows, Star Plus' Diya Aur Baati Hum and Mahabharat are at No.1 and No.2 in the top 10 list with a rating of 9,311 TVTs and 9139 TVTs, respectively. At No.3 is Zee TV's Jodha Akbar that fetched 8,580 TVTs in the week.

The next spot went to Zee TV's Kumkumbhagya that clocked 7,467 TVTs pushing Star Plus' Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (with 6,958 TVTs) one step down at No 5. Saathiya Saath Nibhana stood at No 6 with 6, 930 TVTs.

Colors' Comedy Nights With Kapil occupied the seventh spot with 6787 TVTs. At No 8 is Star Plus' Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, followed by Zee's Qubool Hai at No 9 that registered 5,550 TVTs. At No.10 is Star Plus' Veera with 5410 TVTs.
