Cairn India, the upstream oil and gas company has appointed Leo Burnett as agency on record (AoR) for its branding communication requirements.

The account was awarded after a multi-agency pitch process.

Through its affiliates, Cairn has been operating in India for close to 20 years, playing an active role in developing the country's oil and gas resources. It has been rated as the fastest-growing energy company in the world, according to the 2012 & 2013 Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings.

A statement from the agency states that the integration drive is a strong one given that stories happen across channels and are media-agnostic. Leo Burnett will craft and execute integrated campaigns for Cairn India.

On 9 January, 2007, Cairn India was listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange of India. It is now part of the Vedanta Group, a globally diversified natural resources group with wide ranging interests in aluminium, copper, zinc, lead, silver and iron ore. Headquartered in Gurgaon, the company has operational offices in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and an international office in Colombo.

Leo Burnett India's client roster includes McDonald's, Complan, Glucon D, Thums Up, Maaza, Perfetti, Tide, Whisper, Samsung, Tata Capital, Tata Chemicals, HDFC Life Insurance and Bacardi.
