Simmi Karna joins Saam TV as content head

She will report to Abhijit Pawar, MD Sakal Media Group.

Saam TV, a Marathi entertainment channel run by Pune-based media group Sakal, has appointed Simmi Karna as content head. Based in Saam TV's office in Mumbai, Karna will report to Abhijit Pawar, managing director, Sakal Media Group. She will be working closely with Chandramohan Puppala, business head, Saam TV.

At Sakal, Karna will be responsible for the overall content strategy for the channel and actively support the marketing and sales initiatives for the same. She will also be building the roadmap towards launching fresh content on existing and forthcoming channels envisaged by the management. Content delivery, channel optimisation, brand consistency, segmentation and localisation, analytics and measurement are her key responsibilities at the channel.

Karna comes with over 17 years of experience in researching and writing for television. She has worked with leading production houses in the television industry including Big Production, Balaji Telefilms, Zee, Channel V and IMG, as a writer and creative director across genres of fiction, non-fiction, sports and fashion.

In past, she has also worked with Big Magic as programming head. Just before to joining Sakal, she was engaged in two movie projects. She holds an M. Sc and M. Phil degree in molecular biology and genetics.
