Pending product approval, Hindustan Unilever has decided to withdraw its Chinese range of instant noodles, Knorr.

HUL withdraws Knorr noodles
HUL has last week conducted additional testing of its noodles range from external FSSAI approved laboratory. All tests show that these products are safe for consumption and continue to meet regulatory norms.

The company submitted an application with FSSAI for product approval for Knorr in February 2015 and the same is pending. In conformance with the FSSAI advisory to state FDAs dated June 8, 2015, the decision to stop production and sale of the product, till such time as its application is approved, has been taken.

HUL is initiating withdrawal of the noodle brand from the market. The company says, this discontinuance of manufacturing and sale is not on account of any safety or quality concerns. The Chinese instant noodle range claims to use ingredients which are permitted under the FSS Regulation, 2011/Codex, their safety being well established. Details of the same have been shared with FSSAI as part of the product approval application.

Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) is one of India's largest Fast Moving Consumer Goods company.
