GEC Watch: Star Plus stays at the top

Star Plus' 'Saath Nibhaana Saathiya' was the most watched show in the genre, as per BARC data.

As per BARC data, Star Plus topped the charts by garnering 409238 GVTs (last week: 417090 GVTs). At the No.2 spot is Colors, with 366692 GVTs (last week: 340631 GVTs), followed by Zee TV and Life OK with 256317 GVTs and 235733 GVTs, respectively. SAB TV stood fifth with 191630 GVTs (last week: 197346 GVTs).

A look at the shows:

According to BARC, Star Plus' 'Saath Nibhaana Saathiya' was the most watched show in the genre; it fetched 6078 TVTs. Zee TV's 'Kumkum Bhagya' followed with 5964 TVTs. At No.3 and No.4 were two shows from Colors, namely 'Sasural Simar Ka' (5647 TVTs) and 'Swaragini' (5470 TVTs). Star Plus' 'Ye Hai Mohabbatein' was the fifth most watched show in the genre; it fetched 5195 TVTs.

TAM Data: Top Hindi GECs of Week 33 - August 9 to August 15, 2015 - HSM without LC1, C&S 4+

As per TAM data too, Star Plus tops in Week 33; the channel got 241 GRPs. Colors stood second with 219 GRPs, followed by Zee TV and SAB TV with 169 and 134 GRPs, respectively. Life OK finished fifth (122 GRPs) followed by Sony Entertainment Television (107 GRPs).

Sony was followed by &TV (58 GRPs), Zee Anmol, (31 GRPs), Star Utsav (29 GRPs) and Rishtey (21 GRPs).

A look at the shows: According to TAM, Zee TV's 'Kumkum Bhagya' was the most watched show in the genre; it got 3.9 TVR. Star Plus' 'Yeh Hai Mohabbatein' (3.4 TVR) and Colors' 'Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi' ((3.35 TVR) were next in the top ten list. Colors' 'Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat' (3.34 TVR) and 'Swaragini' (3.26 TVR) were at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.

At No.6 and No.7 were Star Plus' 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai' (3.17 TVR) and 'Saathiya Saath Nibhana' (3.11 TVR). At No.8 was Colors' 'Sasural Simar Ka' (3.06 TVR), followed by Star Plus' 'Diya Aur Baati Hum' (3.05 TVR) and Colors' 'Balika Vadhu' (3.01 TVR).
