GEC Watch: Colors stays put at the top

As per BARC data, Viacom 18's Colors was once again the No.1 GEC in week 37, with a gross viewership of 415 million, at 414841 GVTs (last week 38658 GVTs). Star Plus was at No. 2 with 381365 GVTs (last week 370135 GVTs). Zee TV and Life OK are at the third and fourth positions with 256811 and 221762 GVTs, respectively (last week: 263194 and 207606 GVTs). Sony SAB continues to be at the fifth spot with 183879 GVTs (last week 177268 GVTs).

Top shows of Week 37: As per BARC data, Colors' 'Sasural Simar Ka' (6819 TVTs) topples the previous week's top show- Zee's 'Kumkum Bhagya' which slips down to the third position with 6185 TVTs. At No.2, Star Plus' 'Saath Nibhaana Saathiya', with 6644 GVTs, rose up from its third spot in the previous week. 'Udaan', on Colors, and ' Ye Hai Mohabbatein', on Star Plus, came in at the fourth and fifth spot with 5680 and 5602 TVTs, respectively.

TAM Data: Top Hindi GECs of Week 38 - September 13 to September 19, 2015 - HSM without LC1, C&S 4+

As per TAM data too, Colors remains at the top in week 38; the channel garnered 237 GRPs. Star Plus came in second with 222 GRPs. Zee TV and Sony SAB followed with 152 and 124 GRPs, respectively. Life OK came in a close fifth (123 GRPs), followed by, with a bigger gap this time, Sony Entertainment Television with 87 GRPs. At positions seven to ten were &TV (57 GRPs), Zee Anmol (31 GRPs), Star Utsav (27 GRPs) and Rishtey (25 GRPs).

A look at the shows: As per TAM data, Star Plus 'Yeh Hai Mohabbatein' was the most watched show in the genre with 4.05 TVR. Zee's 'Kumkum Bhagya' came in at the second position with 3.65 TVR. Colors claimed the next three spots with 'Swaragini' at 3.63 TVR, 'Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi' at 3.44 TVR and 'Sasural Simar Ka' at 3.41 TVR.

Star Plus' 'Saathiya Saath Nibhana' rose up to the sixth spot with 3.39 TVR; Colors' 'Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat' ranked No. 7 at 3.38 TVR. The last three spots were claimed by Colors' 'Udaan' (3.29 TVR), Star Plus' 'Diya Aur Baati Hum' (3.17 TVR) and Colors' 'Comedy Nights Bachao' (3.0 TVR).
