Online travel company MakeMyTrip has appointed Deepak Tuli, former co-founder and COO at Goibibo, as senior vice president, growth business. In his new role, he will focus on building and implementing strategies for growing new business lines in the accommodations segment for the company.
Says Tuli, "The e-commerce industry is growing rapidly in the country and accommodations segment has emerged as a new area within the travel e-commerce ecosystem. My role at MakeMyTrip is exciting and challenging at the same time. I am happy to be a part of the MakeMyTrip family and look forward to having a great time ahead."
Tuli joins from Goibibo and comes with over 10 years of experience in the e-commerce ecosystem, with expertise in diverse areas including mobile platforms, digital marketing, product management, P&L management and CRM among others. Prior to Goibibo, he was a part of the launch team at Yatra, where he setup the non-air business for the company. He has done a PGDBA in airlines and travel-related business management from Sky Line Business School and has also completed Naspers Harvard Executive Management Program in General Management.
His appointment is in line with the company's efforts to further strengthen its leadership team. Former BhartiAXA chief marketing officer, Saujanya Shrivastava, joined in January 2015 as CMO. MakeMyTrip also appointed Anshuman Bapna Chief Products Officer in July 2015. He was the founder of MyGola.com, which was acquired by MakeMyTrip in April 2015.
www.makemytrip.com was launched in India in September 2005 as a travel website with real time booking for flights. Over time, the website has evolved into a full-service portal extending its offerings to online hotel-reservations, holiday-package bookings, rail and bus ticket bookings. The website claims to have an average of over 7.8 million unique visitors per month.
