Amit Sarkar, ex-India head of WPP's out-of-home (OOH) agency Kinetic, has launched Nomad, a full-service specialist agency which will focus on providing OOH services across integrated platforms including mobile, digital, data, content, and creative consultancy. The agency, at a later stage, will expand its portfolio to activation, retail, cinema and sports.
Commenting on the launch, Sarkar says, "Kinetic was a great experience, a fiercely challenging, but satisfactory tenure and am happy to have driven many positive changes in India for the global player. It's time to run an independent venture now."
Sarkar adds that Nomad's major investment is in people. "We deliberated a lot and arrived at the name Nomad as we have a bunch of knowledge-hungry people who are willing to venture to the far lands of media, data, technology and convergence to get the best for our clients and business associates," he says.
Sarkar further adds, "Programmatic buying in the digital OOH space, creative advisory and content development specific to OOH, and embracing technology and innovation, is the mantra for us."
According to Sarkar, the strength of Nomad comes from the skill pool brought in by individuals with extensive work in full-service media agencies, OOH, digital services, as well as technology boutiques. "We have got our financial and business plans in place and to start with, will operate with an office network across key metros," he says.
Sarkar has over 18 years of professional experience in the media industry and has worked for The Daily, Mumbai (a morning tabloid), Sahara India Television, Madison Out-Of-Home, Posterscope, Clear Channel, and Portland Outdoor in the past. His last stint was with WPP's OOH specialist agency Kinetic for a period of eight years in various capacities as general manager, national director and country head.
