Intex Mobile, the smartphone division of Intex Technologies (India), has just witnessed the exit of its business head Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, who has decided to move on. He will join Zen Mobile as chief operating officer (COO) and will operate from Zen Mobile's New Delhi office.
Speaking to afaqs!, Kalirona confirmed that he has resigned from Intex Technologies (India).
"I resigned as Intex Mobile's business head in mid-June, and will join Zen Mobile as COO on July 11," he says.
Kalirona has had a long association with Intex. During his more than 15-year stint there, he has worked in various capacities, and handled roles in leadership positions which ranged from IT peripherals to mobile phones. He left Intex for a brief period to join AKAI, where he worked from January 2010, to August 2011, following which he rejoined Intex as business head for its mobile division.
Kalirona's business acumen set trends in the industry and helped Intex Mobile diversify its business. In the last four years, Intex Mobile has grown 100 per cent year-on-year.
In this fiercely competitive market, Kalirona really turned around things at Intex. He did a tremendous job of building and training an able team, develop strategy, and play an instrumental role in execution. With his strong understanding of the mobile market and dealer management, he made 9.2 per cent share feasible for Intex, for the quarter ended in March, 2016.
