GEC Watch: Zee Anmol back in top position in rural market

Star Plus maintains its top spot in urban market.

BARC Data: Top Hindi five GECs of Week 40 - October 1-October 7, 2016-HSM: NCCS All: 4+ Individuals: BARC India base - All India (U) and (R). (Impressions in 000s.)

In Week 40 of BARC's television viewership data for the urban market, Star Plus, Colors, and Sony Entertainment Television held the top slots in that order. Star Plus maintained its top spot with 458945 Impressions, up from 456411 Impressions last week.

BARC

Sony Entertainment Television and Life OK stood 4th and 5th with 298108 Impressions and 279502 Impressions, respectively.

Colors ratings went up marginally with 392333 Impressions, up from 370875 Impressions in Week 39.

Sony Entertainment Television replaced Zee TV at No.3 position, though its ratings dipped to 293844 Impressions from 298670 Impressions in last week.

Zee TV stood at No.4 with 286379 Impressions compared to its previous week's performance at 300552. Life OK maintained its No.5 position with 276354 Impressions (Last Week: 265376).

Rural Data

In the rural market, Zee Anmol became the most-watched channel replacing Star Utsav with 382681 Impressions, a jump from last week's 338643 Impressions.

Star Utsav got pushed to No.2 with 314049 Impressions, marginally down from last week's 346871 Impressions.

Sony Pal was at No.3, with 273997 Impressions in spite of a decrease in its performance (Last Week: 304404).

Again, maintaining its No.4 position since four weeks was Rishtey with 261573 Impressions compared to 239750 Impressions in the previous week, while Star Plus was fifth with 219001 Impressions (Last Week: 233990).

Brahmarakshas

Top five shows in Hindi GECs (Urban)

Among urban viewers, Zee TV's Brahmarakshas - Jaag Utha Shaitan became the most-watched show and stood at No.1 with 6833 Impressions (Last Week: 7126)

Sony Entertainment Television's The Kapil Sharma Show got pushed to No.2 position with 6789 Impressions (Last Week: 7277).

Colors' Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki was at No.3 with 6409 Impressions, followed by Star Plus' Saath Nibhaana Saathiya with 6359 Impressions. Zee TV's Kumkum Bhagya was at No.5 with 6254 Impressions.

Top five shows in Hindi GECs (Rural)​

In Week 40, as per BARC rural data, Zee Anmol's Jodha Akbar replaced Rishtey's Naagin as the most-watched show with 5594 Impressions. Rishtey's Naagin was at No.2 position with 5330 Impressions followed by Zee Anmol's Bandini with 5077 Impressions. Zee Anmol's Kasam Hai Tujhe Aa Bhi Ja and Star Utsav's Saath Nibhana Saathiya were at fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
