Vodafone helps Delhities breathe-in a sigh of relief

The brand has recently set up an 'Air Purifying Bus Shelter' at Safdarjung Hospital.

The air quality of Delhi over the past few days has worsened due to dust, smoke and suspended particles reaching alarming levels. High level of pollutants coupled with dense fog, is causing nightmares for Delhities, as the national capital continues to register increased number of respiratory illness/lung disease cases.

With the aim to help commuters tackle poor air quality and allow them breathe in fresh air, telecom service provider Vodafone India, came up with a unique out-of-home (OOH) initiative - 'Air Purifying Bus Shelter' at Safdarjung Hospital.

With this initiative, commuters in Delhi/NCR travelling via Safdarjung Hospital can make a quick stop, to breathe-in a sigh of relief at the bus shelter. The air purifier installed at the bus stop absorbs the surrounding polluted air, processes it, and the filtered air is then supplied to people in a covered area. This first-of-its-kind initiative will be implemented near Nehru Place in due course of time.

The bus shelter is covered with plastic curtains giving it a transparent, closed room look and has three industrial air purifiers installed inside. The shelter also has an indicator-system comprising of two grids of LEDs - one displaying the level of pollution outside the shelter and the another displaying the air quality measure inside the bus stop - so that commuters can see the difference for themselves. As part of the branding, the message 'Recharge with fresh air' is also displayed on top of the bus shelter.

This is not the first time that Vodafone has undertaken a task for the greater good of the society. The brand had installed 'Rainwater Harvesting billboards', in the month of July this year, to solve the water shortage problem, and help farmers of the drought-affected areas in Maharashtra.

Vodafone has strategically chosen the air purifying bus shelter to be set up at Safdarjung. This is because a large number of patients visit the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Safdarjung Hospital from across the country and waiting in queue for a bus in a polluted environment would be even more harmful for a person already tackling health issues. Therefore, through this initiative Vodafone is trying provide some relief to the public.
