Ankit Khanna is now COO, FreeCharge

He was earlier chief product officer with the company.

Digital payments platform, FreeCharge has announced the elevation of Ankit Khanna as chief operating officer of the company. As a part of his expanded role, he will be managing product, user growth, user experience and business development at FreeCharge.

Before taking charge as the COO, Khanna was the chief product officer with the company. Prior to this, he was the senior vice president, product at Snapdeal.

Over time, he led the product development team from scratch and helped build scalable and complex products encompassing buyer experience, seller ecosystem, supply chain management, payments as well as content and catalog systems at Snapdeal.

Commenting on the development, Jason Kothari, CEO of FreeCharge says, "(Ankit) Khanna has brought in tremendous value and energy to the team and has played a pivotal role in the company's journey to become one of the fastest growing digital wallets in the country today. Khanna holds a Bachelors in Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Before joining Snapdeal, he also co-founded Itasveer in 2006, an online solution for photo printing which was later acquired by a Pune based IT Services company.

FreeCharge is a digital payment services firm. Consumers across the country use FreeCharge to make payments for their prepaid recharges, postpaid bills, DTH recharges, broadband recharges, utility bill payments such as electricity across nearly 25 distribution companies, gas and water. In addition, consumers can use their FreeCharge wallet to pay for their fuel purchases, travel and commute bookings, food delivery and dining, movie and event tickets, shopping needs across leading offline and online merchants. FreeCharge's prominent merchant partners include HPCL, IOCL, IRCTC, Foodpanda, Swiggy, Zomato, McDonalds, Shoppers Stop, Pantaloons, and Bookmyshow, among others.
