Maruti in full throttle in image ratings

Maruti remains the No. 1 company on Cirrus 100. While Hindustan Petroleum and Union Bank of India are the top gainers this month on Cirrus 100, HCL Technologies and BPL Ltd. tumbled in their ratings

According to Cirrus, a service that monitors the media perception of over 1,100 companies, Maruti rates the highest among corporations in terms of image.

During the period of 4th September to 2nd October, the auto giant was ranked No.1on the Cirrus Image Index (which is based on positive coverage minus negative coverage). Followed by Reliance Industries at No 2 and Unit Trust of India at No. 3.

Nine new companies made their way into the Cirrus 100 list this month. They are Toyota Kirloskar Motor Limited, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Ltd, LML, Sahara India Media, Asian Paints, Nestle and Sail. Citibank rounded up the Cirrus 100 by making an entry at No. 100.

This period saw HCL Technologies rating take the maximum beating, falling 16 ranks from No. 79 to No. 95. BPL Ltd also saw a loss of rank, falling 9 positions from No. 85 to No.94. Tata Power, Titan Industries, Idea Cellular Ltd, Satyam Computer Services and Satyam Infoways Systems Ltd were among the others whose rankings fell several notches on Cirrus 100.

The biggest gainers during this period turned out to be Hindustan Petroleum, Union Bank of India and Nalco. Hindustan Petroleum jumped 12 ranks to No. 25 on the sheer volume of coverage garnered from its sell off plans. While Union Bank and Nalco both rose 11 places to reach No. 81and No. 63 respectively. Other companies that also did relatively well on the Cirrus 100 this month include Turner International India Pvt Ltd, Indian Hotels and Sun Micro Systems.
