Nitesh Kripalani quits as country head Prime Video, Vijay Subramanaim to be the interim boss

Kripalani joined Amazon in 2014 and played a vital role in setting up Prime Video business in India.

Amazon India, in a statement confirms Nitesh Kripalani’s resignation as director and country head, Amazon Video India.

Amazon’s statement reads, "Amazon confirms that Nitesh Kripalani who is leading Amazon Prime Video in India, has decided to move on from Amazon due to personal reasons. Nitesh helped build the team and deliver a great experience to our customers. We wish Nitesh the best in his future endeavors."

Meanwhile a source close to the development informs afaqs! that Vijay Subramaniam who recently joined the organisation as director content, will be the interim boss till a suitable replacement is found. "All the employees who used to report to Nitesh will now report to Vijay Subramaniam," says the source. Subramaniam joined Prime Video from Disney India, where he was vice president - content & communication.

"Kripalani’s notice period ends in November 2017, but he won’t be around till then," the source further informs "He resigned citing family issues and will be available at Amazon for a week more, after that he is going for a sabbatical," the source adds.

Kripalani had joined Amazon in December 2014, before that he was working at Multi Screen Media (now Sony Pictures Networks) as executive vice president, new media.
