Adding that he hopes to make a positive difference to the CBFC position.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has announced the appointment of Prasoon Joshi as Chairperson of Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Currently, he holds the position of Chairman of McCann Asia Pacific, and CEO and chief creative officer of McCann India, and will continue to hold the responsibilities at the advertising agency network. "The Certification Board is an honorary position and one hopes to make a positive difference with the guidance and support of respected minds. Great intent is the best beginning. Professionally, all through McCann has been my first priority and continues to be so," he says.

He adds, "To take on responsibility and do my best has been my endeavour. I have believed that right to have an opinion is better served contributing constructively. Over the years one has been on various Boards, Bodies and I have always extended my talent and experience to societal causes."

His appointment as the Chairperson of CBFC is effective from August 11, 2017. "The Central Government is pleased to appoint Shri. Prasoon Joshi as Chairperson of the CBFC for a period of three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier," the government informed through a media statement. He will replace Pahlaj Nihalani, who was appointed in January 2015.
