Last week’s sales promotions were marked by offers from Coca-Cola – still riding on Hrithikmania – and an inspired ‘Kaun Banega Carpati’ contest from Satyam Online.

Kicking off last week's sales promotions round-up, Coca-Cola had two different promotions running, one in the Capital and the other in Calcutta; in Delhi (NCR included), a 1.5-litre PET bottle of Coke got consumers a gift pack of Alpenliebe candy. In Calcutta, Hrithik fans could exchange Coca-Cola green band crowns for posters, sippers, wall clocks and other Hrithik memorabilia. This second offer is valid till Sep 12, 2000.
Among the other important promotions witnessed last week, was a major subscription drive by Magna Publishing Co Ltd. On subscribing to various magazines of Magna, readers became eligible to win gifts that include Thomson Hi-Fi audio systems, Bentex 23.5 carat gold-plated watches and Softel Fudpro machines. The Magna offer is valid till Aug 31, 2000.
In Mumbai, Samsung ran a scheme on its SGH-600 model mobile phone where consumers could get a rebate of up to Rs 3,500 on the mobile phone in exchange of any old mobile phone of any make.
With the ISP race heating up, Satyam Online was in action. In Delhi (NCR included), those consumers purchasing a Satyam Online Internet connection were eligible to enter the ‘Kaun Banega Carpati' contest. Here, prizes included a Ford Ikon, LG fridges, 3COM web cameras and Casio Palm tops, among many more. A total of 3,659 prizes are at stake in this contest, which is open till Sep 10, 2000.
Again, in Delhi, Appu Ghar was busy trying to rope in the crowds. Consumers could avail an Appu Ghar All Rides ticket by paying just Rs 135 -and producing a clipping of the ad for the promo. This offer is valid till Aug 14, 2000.
The other promos that have been on for some time now, and which ran through last week were Pudin Hara's introductory price of Rs 3 for the 5.5 gm sachet; Vimal's ‘up to 20 per cent off' offer on its latest collections; the Rs 2,250-worth OTG that came free with the Kenstar water purifier and the special Rs 1,000-rebate on the Hero Puch EZ, applicable in Calcutta.
