It was a month of well-known personalities. The tremendous hype surrounding the visit of Bill Gates to India ensured Microsoft was the No 1 Company in November in terms of image (positive coverage minus negative coverage). This was the finding of the Cirrus Image Index, a service from agencyfaqs! that tracks the image of over 1,100 companies in the media.
Microsoft had taken over the No 1 position on Cirrus during the middle of November and the period Oct 31 to Nov 30 saw the company maintaining its hold on the Top spot.
Another popular figure, Tim Sebastian of the programme HardTalk on BBC World had made an appearance in India during November. His visit and subsequent coverage in media served to propel BBC World into Cirrus 100 (Cirrus 100 lists the top 100 companies on Cirrus) straight in at No 92.
Cirrus 100 saw eight new entrants including BBC World - LML, Jet Airways, Doordarshan, United Breweries, Reliance Infocomm, Corporation Bank, Canara Bank during this period.
Idea Cellular was the best performer in November on the Cirrus 100 index, as it jumped 28 ranks to No 67. The roll out of its services in Delhi was the event behind Ideas' image boost.
Other companies that did well on Cirrus 100 during November include Daimlerchrysler India, Standard Chartered, Titan Industries, Turner International, Sahara India Media and Punjab National Bank.
