Khare will take over the charge from incumbent N K Sinha who superannuates on May 31.
Senior bureaucrat Amit Khare, who reportedly exposed the multi-crore fodder scam in Bihar, has been recently appointed as secretary to the information and broadcasting ministry as part of a major reshuffle involving 24 top IAS officers.
Khare, a 1985-batch IAS officer, is at present serving in his cadre state Jharkhand and will take over the charge from incumbent N K Sinha who superannuates on May 31.
The announcement regarding the appointment came as a part of a big bureaucratic reshuffle initiated by the Government that is now gearing for the general elections.
