ZEE News signs up Quantum Media Consultancy Service

ZEE News has signed up Quantum Media Consultancy Service to handle the media strategy planning for the channel. The move was not preceded by a pitch process though. Talking about the appointment of Quantum Media Consultancy Service, Laxmi Goel, director, ZEE News, says, "The appointment of Quantum is part of our continuous effort to leverage multi-media options to propel ZEE News, as a brand, forward." ZEE sources, however, refused to put a figure to the size of the business.

For Quantum, ZEE News is a prestigious win, and "that is what matters," says Quantum's director, Pallav Moitra. He adds, "We are delighted to get the media strategy planning business of ZEE News." The mandate for Quantum Media Consultancy Service is to take charge of all the media-related activities for ZEE News.

Quantum's honcho, and ex-Everest, Rediffusion and JWT hand Sajal Mukherjee explains the task for his agency. "News channels are seeing a fierce battle for eyeballs today. With the recent entry of new news channels this has become the most watched space by all," he says. "It's a great opportunity for us to work with the ZEE News brand management team and aim to take it to the No 1 slot. I feel media strategy will assume a very crucial role in this dynamic news channel viewership war."

Quantum Media Consultancy Service plans to pool its resources to work closely with Leo Burnett, the agency that handles the creative duties for ZEE News. For the record, Leo Burnett won the creative duties of ZEE News in a multi-agency pitch in June this year. The channel has been repositioned recently on the platform of "Haqeeqat Jaisi Khabar Waisi".

Quantum Media Consultancy Service is part of Quantum Media, a media marketing outfit, formed three years ago. The agency pegs its current billings at Rs 5-6 crore. While Quantum Media Consultancy Service offers media-related solutions, Quantum Media operates in the area of marketing ‘innovative' media and plans to enter the space of ‘experiential' marketing.
