Radio One goes back in time

94.3 Radio One set into a time machine and took a ride into a world 25 years ago. The station for the fataafat generation paid tribute to Team India for its historic win against West Indies at Lords at the Prudential Cricket World Cup, on this very day, 25 years ago. The silver jubilee celebration had the channel donning a 80esque avatar and living it up the Eighties way. Rekindling the era gone by, the station provided its patrons with live score updates of the '83 World Cup final, Bollywood gossip of 1983, fashion tips of that time with several other entertainment updates. What's more, listeners were in for a musical extravaganza as Radio One played the popular music of the year and had news straight from the Delhi University campus of 1983.

Debojit Saha, Programming Head, 94.3 Radio one Delhi says, "the whole idea was to create a period-radio for a day... like the first half of Om Shanti OM with lots of fun & vigor. Being a radio station we didn't want to restrict the day's importance with just some "flashback" segments,but the most important part was to create a very topical relevance to the whole affair... like SRK who was a fresher in Hansraj College is a campus RJ in the college radio show, internet was just invented, evening jock giving cash prize to pay down payment for a Maruti 800 etc. The fun got little serious when people documented our fake 1983 ads in air-check as commercials."
