Amrita TV is ushering in the Malyalayam New Year in splendid style by offering three unique programmes – Great India Race, Junior Genius, Super Star Junior-2. Two of them veer off the beaten track and blaze trails of their own while another is the sequel of a super successful show.
Great India Race is possibly India's first Actuality show, where the contestants will be in the real world facing actual realities to be launched on August 18 on prime time(Mon-Fri ,8.30 pm). The contestants, journey across India from Kanyakumari to Leh. During the course of the journey, they are assigned tasks to perform but are only given cryptic clues . The clues lead them across the vast expanse of India so that they get a first hand feel of the rich tapestry of India’s geographical and cultural diversity.
The journey is a test of character – of resourcefulness, powers of observation never-say-die attitude and survival skills. Sometimes they have to bathe elephants or till fields to raise money for supper. There are no expert panel to evaluate their performances; their judges are the mahout whose elephant they bathed or the farmer whose field they ploughed.
It is an actuality show, a real show with no script, no retakes and no cuts in action. But as the contestants ponder over clues, clamber over mountains, fight against impossible odds in a breath-taking race against time and each other, this show provides more drama, thrills, suspense than any film. Eight cameras of Amrita TV with full complement of crew will be trailing the contestants in this pan-Indian show.
Junior Genius is an edutainment reality show targeted at 12-14 year olds to discover the perfect all-rounder. It is a weekend programme (Sat-Sun,8 pm) that breathes novelty at every step, from selection to evaluation. Junior Genius assesses not just their IQ, GK or artistic abilities but endeavours to analyse the total personality of the child, his physical, mental and intellectual potential.
The contest takes place amidst much fun and participative learning so that instead of being bogged down by the tension of rivalry, the competition becomes a journey of discovery when they unveil hidden strengths, unrealized skills and latent talents.
Super Star Junior was the first ever reality show for children in the history of Malayalam Television. Designed to discover the best all round singing star in the 10 -15 age group, it created ripples across the entire viewing public in the State. Following in its wake, Amrita Television launches Super Star Junior – 2, a sequel that goes one up on its predecessor as it endeavours to showcase a total stage performer rather than just a singer. In its second coming, Super Star Junior-2 has the same aim, focuses on the same age group, but evolves to a higher level of presentation, with smashing set designs, on-stage orchestra,a learned jury panel and more challenging rounds.
This foot-tapping show, that had an entire state rocking to its tune will be launched on August 18, as a weekday show(Mon-Fri,8 pm).
