Internet is a necessity for today's computer users. It is, in one sense, the world's largest encyclopedia (don't know something? look it up on the Net), but it's also the world's largest data and software repository. Gradually people are becoming more dependent on net. This internet usage can be done from office, home, cyber café, from anywhere of the world. People are totally against to waste their valuable time. That’s why gradually the usage level of laptops have been increased.

The study ‘India Bytes’ helps to find out all these details, facts & figures. Nowadays, the real computing mother lode is the Internet. Based out the study ‘India Bytes’, it can be said the main purpose of computer use from home is to surf internet. Today, society couldn't even begin to survive without the ever-so-powerful-and-mighty Internet. This internet fever is also scattered in between the housewives. This advance technology gives them starting from the Cooking recipes to honeymoon package, attractive ideas of interior decoration to earn from home facilities through computer. Not only housewives, most of the users utilize the internet facility when they are using computers from home.

Computer usage dynamics and preferences captured through a large ‘online’ survey sampling over 5,080 computer users in July-August 2008.Online survey conducted using JuxtConsult Consumer Panel (www.getcounted.net). Panel 65,000 member strong in August 2008, adding over 10,000 new members every month.The online survey data made ‘representative’ of the urban Indian population by using appropriate ‘demographic weights’.Weights derived using authentic Govt. of India population statistics and a large 12,500 household land survey conducted by JuxtConsult in 2008 across all socio-economic strata in 40 cities

It includes understanding of computer usage behavior and preferences like – place, frequency and duration of usage, configuration details, software usage, printer and peripherals usage, AMC, Internet usage of Urban Indians. It also provides the Demographic & Socio Economic profile like- Gender, age, city, city type, region ,educational qualification, current occupation, industry of occupation, preferred language of reading, marital and children status, SEC, monthly household income, most expensive vehicle owned, credit and debit card ownership, household asset ownership – home, TV, fridge, washing machine, AC, microwave, music system, DVD player, IPod, camera, video recorder, landline phone, mobile phone and cable TV connection of Computer users in Urban India.

This study can give an idea about the future intensions on Computer Buying & Usage including the time of purchase, information of Brand Shares & Brand perceptions of Desktops or laptops. This study can give concrete information of a computer user so that all these important information can be used as an important path of Research.
