Ad-spend on Facebook rises even after Cambridge Analytica scandal

Though the Cambridge Analytica scandal took over headlines around the world, ad spend on Facebook has jumped.

Technology firm 4C calculated that Facebook enjoyed a 62 per cent year-on-year increase in ad spend to the first quarter of 2018. Compared to Snapchat and Instagram, however, even that impressive figure pales. Snapchat and Instagram, recorded comparable growth of 234 and 136 per cent respectively.

More startling was the fact that this growth continued through 17 and 24 March as the Cambridge Analytica scandal made headlines.
