What’s your favourite job board? Naukri? Indeed? Careerbuilder? Monster? It could soon be Google for Jobs.
A job search site that has just rolled out in the US could change the way online job seekers work. In due course of time, managing login IDs, passwords and digging into various job board sites may be a thing of the past if Google has its say. Job seekers will get entire listings by just going on to Google for Jobs.
Consider this scenario in the near future (Google for Jobs will have spread its wings here by then): search for “advertising jobs near me” or “advertising jobs in Pune” you will be taken into a new area of Google called Google for Jobs. If you want a more specific search result, Google offers the opportunity to refine the search further.
After having disrupted the travel industry with its travel booking tool (which grew to twice the size of Expedia), Google has trained its sights on employment now. And all it needs to ‘diversify’ is give its all-powerful search engine a few tweaks that add new capabilities.
As of now, the company has no plans of monetising Google for Jobs. As the world’s biggest search engine grows more arms and legs it could well become the only stop in the worldwide web that one could need.
