Sachin Pilot inaugurated three new value added services

Shri Sachin Pilot, Hon'ble Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology inaugurated three new Value Added Services, namely "Video SMS", "Live Share" and "Dial-a-Video" for 2G & 3G mobile customers of BSNL across the country at Chandigarh on 10 April, 2011. Sh Pilot added that with the launch of these value added services BSNL services will receive a boost, and would transform communication for its users and directed BSNL to continue improving the services for users in the state. Speaking on the occasion Sh. S.S. Sirohi, Chief General Manager Telecom, Punjab Circle elaborated on the benefits of these services to the customers and their potential of generating huge revenues for BSNL. These 'first of its kind' services in entertainment as well utility domain are primarily targeted at youth and professional segment of the market.

BSNL is bringing these 'state-of-art' services in collaboration with its technology partners M/s Cervello for 'Video SMS' and 'Live Share' and M/s PK Online for 'Dial-a-Video'. Mr. Sirohi expressed hope that with appropriate pricing, marketing and business development strategy BSNL may be able to generate revenues to the tune of Rs.200-300 crores from these premium services in next 2-3 years. In addition such services not only shall enhance BSNL brand image adding much needed youthfulness but also go a long way in boosting adoption and uptake of 3G services.

1. Video SMS ( 3G):- The new revolutionary way of expressing oneself through short videos (voice+picture) and instant communicating with the other person has potential as huge as text SMS we are commonly used to. It is easy to use and doesn't have limitations of MMS service which could not take off because of complexity. Just make a video call to 58877, record your video and send video message from a 3G mobile. The receiving mobile can be an ordinary one with GPRS facility only and subscriber of any network.

2. Live-Share (Live Video Sharing) <2G/3G>:- The next to show-case was the mobile real time video sharing service called "Live Share" to enable customer of both 2G & 3G network to create and share his video with family and friends instantly, on SMS or on Social networks like Facebook , Twitter and You Tube.
