Greendiamz Biotech Ltd has signed a deal with the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Trust (TTDT) to supply bio-degradable bags to distribute Prasadam to the devotees The deal comes after TTDT, in a landmark decision, decided to ban the use of plastic bags in the temple premises in order to show its solidarity towards making the holy abode environmentally sustainable. Greendiamz Biotech bagged the order in February through a pan-India competitive bidding process. Greendiamz will be supplying 25 lakh bags, made from its proprietary "TrueGreen" bio-degradable film, every month. These will be used in the packaging of ladoos to be given as 'prasadsm' to the devotees.

Speaking on bagging the prestigious order Mr Dipack Sangghvi Director Greendiamz Biotech Ltd said "It gives us immense honor and pleasure to be working with Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Trust (TTDT) . Our company is blessed to be working with the temple trust. This would be our service to all devotees who come for the darshan and contribute in a small way to keep it environment friendly.We would also like to thank the temple authorities for believing in us and the product".

These bags which will be made of 30-micron thick material and it does not get affected by ghee, oil or moisture. It gets decomposed in 180 days after coming in contact with soil. Greendiamz has been doing extensive R&D for over a year now and their products have been tested and certified by European Standard EN 13432 and other organizations like CIPET(Chennai), Indian Institute of packaging(Mumbai) and BIS(Bureau of Indian Standards).

More than 50,000 devotees visit the Tirupati Balaji Temple daily and on weekends the number crosses a lakh. The usage of these bags will make a huge impact to reduce the use of plastic bags.
