A total of 18 teams from 8 schools including Amity International-Noida, Blue Bells International - Kailash, Delhi International - Dwarka, GD Goenka - Rohini & Gurgaon, Heritage - Gurgaon, Ryan - Rohini and Gurgaon competed among themselves in the newly opened PVR bluO 26-lane bowling centre - India’s largest today. Heritage School-Gurgaon emerged the clear winners with 1060 points. It was closely followed by GD Goenka World School Gurgaon with 1049 points as the 1st Runner-Up and Amity International School - Noida with 991 points as the 2nd Runner-up. The 4 week long tournament that commenced on November 7 had students from classes VIII to XII from top schools of Delhi & NCR participating in PVR bluO’s bowling centres at Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj and Gurgaon.

The finals was graced by the presence of the First Bowling family of India where the Father, Mother, Daughter and Son are all part of the National and state teams and have won accolades at both National and International Levels. The Father, Harsh Sarda with over 30 years of bowling experience, is 3 Time National Champion and recently won the Winner’s trophy at the 36th MWA Thailand open. Mr. Sarda is the only Indian to have 4 International bowling trophies to his name. Also, present in the finals was Dhruv Sarda, currently part of the Indian National Elite Team and is Ranked No. 1 in the country for the year 2010-2011. Representing India at the Asian Games, Asian Bowling Championships and World Men Championships, Dhruv created new Indian records which still remain unchallenged. Both Dhruv and Harsh provided valuable bowling tips to the finalists.
Each school had been provided a liberty of sending a maximum of 5 teams (12 students) for playing in the tournament. Each player in the team played 2 games and the cumulative scores of the team were recorded to decide the winners.
Speaking on finale of the tournament, Gautam Dutta, Chief Executive Officer, PVR bluO said, “We are pleased to extend our ambit of space to schools as well after having organized three editions of Corporate Bowling Tournament in 2009, 2010 and 2011.”
PVR bluO has redefined bowling as a popular lifestyle and entertainment sport in the country and is the ideal destination to de-stress and have fun. “PVR bluO would shortly start a league for amateurs who would have the ideal opportunity to be trained under the watchful eyes of Mr. Sarda”, he added.
Bowling is a recognized sport and part of Asian Games, Asian Youth Games, Bolivarian Games, Central American & Caribbean Games, Mediterranean Games, Pan American Games, South American Games, Southeast Asian Games, Special Olympics World Games and World Games.
Bowling is an anaerobic type of physical exercise that helps in burning calories and works muscle groups not usually exercised. The flexing and stretching in bowling works tendons, joints, ligaments, and muscles in the arms promotes burning of accumulated body fat leading to weight loss.
Apart from the physical benefits it also has psychosocial benefits, strengthening friendships or creating new ones in groups. Bowling is an anaerobic type of physical exercise helping in burning calories and promotes weight loss.
