Around 100 participants will be attending the event with a special focus on attracting educators. On Friday, each participant will get 60 seconds to pitch an idea to all the other participants. Later, the ideas are voted for by the participants and teams are formed around the ideas that get the maximum votes. After that, the teams start working on realizing their ideas with the help of mentors and subject matter experts from Saturday morning till Sunday afternoon. Over the weekend one can witness the real development work and the last day of weekend shows the final outcome in the form of presentations to a panel of judges that includes investors and seasoned entrepreneurs.
“Startup Weekend gives entrepreneurs an amazing opportunity to test their ideas, expand their network, and gain access to potential investors for their business. It's very helpful for countries like India, where there are plenty of ideas but most of the entrepreneurs don't take the plunge. And, also it does not involve any risk since you don't have to quit your job as everything happens over the weekend," says Pankaj Jain, who brought Startup Weekend to India in March 2011.
A few speakers from some of the leading multinationals, mentors and panel of judges are invited to work with the participants over the weekend.
