Nimbus Sport International (Nimbus Sport) and the Asian Tour Golf announced today a long term partnership which will see Nimbus Sport promote multiple Asian Tour golf events.
The multi year, multi event deal, will also see Nimbus Sport bring a unique professional event format for the first time to Asia. Modeled on the annual Pebble Beach event on the US PGA Tour, this format will feature regular pro match play with participation opportunities for amateur golfers within the competition rounds of the event itself.
The first edition of the event is scheduled to be held in India in February 2011.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajesh Mehrotra, VP Nimbus Sport said: "Nimbus Sport is excited to bring this unique format of pro golf events into Asia. These events will provide a fabulous platform to sponsors and partners for their outreach and engagement programs for their customers and brands across an Asian audience. Our golf investment will build up to staging six Asian Tour events annually across the continent within three years."
Htwe Hla Han, Senior Director of Tour Development, Asian Tour said: "We are extremely pleased to enter into a long term partnership with one of Asia’s leading sports management companies, Nimbus Sport. We will work closely with Nimbus Sport in putting together a grand first event and building on the same to create further event opportunities across Asia."
The unique event concept being brought into Asia by Nimbus Sport will combine participation from top Tour professionals with captains of industry and leading celebrities into a single mega-prize money event.
The event will feature two tournaments in one; a regular match play professional tournament and an amateur team tournament. Amateur players will form teams with professionals and play with each other in the first and second day of the event proper. This will give amateur golfers in Asia a "once in a lifetime" opportunity to play a round of golf in a pro tournament alongside professional golfers.
