Godfather Saturdays now moves beyond the film- Zee Studio

Godfather Saturdays is all geared up to continue making you offers that you simply can't refuse. And on 11th September, Saturday, Zee Studio brings back the magic of cult crime flicks to your tele screens at 9PM. Here's a sneakpeak into the lineup for the month of September:

* Gunshy on 4th Sept at 9pm

* Jackie Brown on 11th Sept at 9pm

* Be Cool on 18th Sept at 9pm

* Brother on 25th Sept at 9pm

Having initiated the series with Gunshy on 4th Sept, Zee Studio will showcase Jackie Brown on 11th Sept, Saturday at 9 pm.

Jackie Brown is a 1997 American crime film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. It is an adaptation of the novel Rum Punch by American novelist Elmore Leonard and pays homage to 1970's blaxploitation films. The film stars Pam Grier, Robert Forster, Robert De Niro, Samuel L. Jackson, Bridget Fonda and Michael Keaton. It was Tarantino's third film following his successes with Reservoir Dogs (1992) and Pulp Fiction (1994).

Grier and Forster were both veteran actors but neither had performed a leading role in many years. Jackie Brown revitalized both actors' careers.

Jackie Brown is the name of a flight attendant who gets caught smuggling her boss' gun money on the airline she works for. Luckily for her, the Fed Ray Nicolet and the LA Cop Mark Dargus decide to team up in order to arrest the arms dealer she works for, whose name they don't even know. Here's when she has to choose one way: tell Nicolet and Dargus about Ordell Robbie (the arms dealer) and get her freedom -except that if Ordell suspects you're talking about him, you're dead- or keep her mouth shut and do some time. That's when she meets Max Cherry -her bail bondsman-, late fifties, recently separated, burnt-out man, who falls in love with her. Then Jackie comes up with a plan to play the Feds off against Ordell and the guys he works with -Louis Gara and Melanie Ralston, among others- and walk off with their money. But she needs Max's help. No one is going to stand in the way of his million dollar payoff...

The film garnered Forster an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor, and Jackson and Grier were nominated for Golden Globe Awards.
