Engaging audiences with the greatest movies from across the globe, UTV World Movies now brings the award winning film 'Mother of Mine' this month. A Finnish -Swedish film, Mother of Mine traces the feelings of a 9 year old boy who is separated from his biological mother and sent to another country to live with a surrogate mother.
A coming of age drama, the story is set against the backdrop of World War II when more than 70,000 Finnish children were evacuated to neutral Sweden to avoid the conflict. The film narrates the story of one such boy, 9-year-old Eero, a child who increasingly feels abandoned by his biological Finnish mother and yet not attached to his Swedish surrogate mom. The story focuses on Eero's difficulties in adjusting to the language barrier, resentment from his new mother, his longing to go back to his biological mother and his fears of abandonment.
Speaking on the movie, Manasi Sapre, Programming Head, UTV World Movies, says, Mother of Mine is a poignant film that beautifully narrates the predicament of a young boy who is forced to move away from his mother. The film cautiously captures the turmoil that goes on in the heart of the young boy as he grows into an adult. Mother of Mine is a film that is sure to captivate people of all ages and is a perfect piece of artistic world cinema complete with commendable performances by the child actor and other artists."
