On World Environment Day ReD FM – the station for expression went all out with its enthusiastic red squad in a bid to spread the message of a greener planet. ReD FM stations across the country swung into action and a series of activities were undertaken in cities across India to make the planet a safer and healthier place to live in. Red FM’s green anthem resounded from Jabalpur to Vizag, from Bhubaneshwar to Vadodara and from Varanasi to Bhopal.
Partnering with the marathon organized by the Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board to create environmental awareness, ReD FM Jabalpur distributed organic cloth bags amongst people to discourage the use of plastic and polythene.
Bringing together the locals of Vadodara, ReD FM undertook the cleansing of river Vishwamitri along with a plantation drive in association with the Vadodara Municipal Corporation. Around 500 saplings were planted in Vododara amidst huge fanfare.
In Bhubaneshwar, ReD FM RJs took to the streets propagating the virtues of pollution-free environment by rallying like-minded locals to hand push a ReD FM branded van at key locations across the city. This activity was undertaken in association with the Bhubaneshwar Traffic Police and the locals who participated in the activity were given saplings thus engraving the importance of being environmentally conscious.
ReD FM Bhopal kept the style quotient intact by distributing cloth bags to its listeners along with saplings thereby making the people aware of an ecologically balanced world.
Involving and engaging the young Indians in a series of activities like painting, essay writing and elocution amongst others, ReD FM Vizag encouraged the students from Class I to X to portray their thoughts on the World Environment Day in association with the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board.
ReD FM RJs in Varanasi visited crowded market places and dropped fake Rs. 100 notes with each note depicting a public service message on the flip side. This rather unique activity was conducted in association with the Nagar Nigam of Varanasi.
Commenting on the activities Nisha Narayanan, Senior VP- Projects and Programming, ReD FM 93.5 Network said “Climate change and environmental issues are pressing concerns for this day and age. For the future of our planet we need to change our habits and adopt environment friendly measures. Our activities for World Environment Day across various cities have been met with an overwhelming response. As a radio station, we realize the importance of mobilizing people and the role they play in bringing about a change. We got listeners across stations to express their concerns about the environment and went a step ahead to adopt environment friendly practices thereby encouraging people to do the same. We stand true to our sobriquet of being the station for expression and we will continue to do our bit for the environment through consolidated efforts.”
