The 3D special issue was an instant success with a 33% increase in demand for Lokmat in Kolhapur with a print-run of 28,000, while Nasik and Jalgaon saw a 5% hike with a print run of 1,05,000 in Nasik and 32,500 Jalgaon. Even Lokmat Samachar witnessed an increased print-run of 4,645 and 6,377 in Kolhapur and Jalgaon resp. and 16% demand hike in Kolhapur while it was 6% in Jalgaon.

Nasik, Kolhapur and Jalgaon have been anchoring tremendous regional growth around them; the urbanization of these cities reflects the changes brought on by development, migration and the shift from farming and manufacturing to an economy dominated by service industries. These are now the potentially lucrative markets for reader expansion.

Speaking on the 3D issue Mr. Jwalant Swaroop, COO Lokmat Media Ltd, said, “It was indeed great teamwork and integrated approach of all departments to make this issue successful. He further added "Seeing our readers enjoying the 3D experience has been amazing. It is a step forward in our endeavour to provide unique experience to our reader and build bond with our readership. I am glad it has delivered enormous value to our advertisers due to this huge engagement and multiple exposures.”

With many pioneering initiatives under its belt, Lokmat has added another feather to its cap by being the first publication in Maharashtra to bring the 3D experience in the print medium for the readers. The advertisers got the opportunity to showcase their brand communication in 3 Dimensional views which drew more than the regular response from the readers. Readers spent more time reading the paper and enjoying the 3d experience.

“We are happy to have built a decent capability for handling a project of this kind. 3D offers depth of object while viewing and an enjoyable feeling to the viewer” remarked Mr. R Bora, Technical Director.

Another advertiser, Sanjay Ghodawat, CEO, Star Group said, “The 3D edition of Lokmat is in line with the latest craze for 3D experience among the consumers today. This provides a unique opportunity for consumers to experience something different. We are extremely happy to partner with Lokmat in this unique initiative and wish them all the best for their future endeavour.”

Lokmat has already marked its place in the hearts and minds of the Marathi readers by providing news views and information to empower them in today’s competitive world. With this unique innovation the newspaper has virtually sealed its position.

Lokmat is Maharashtra’s No. 1 daily newspaper with an ABC, J-D 2010 circulation of 17.5 lakh copies (incl Goa) and an Avg Issue Readership, IRS 2011, Q1 of 73.05 lacs.
