Chennai Live 104.8 FM, in its aim to promote Indian Contemporary Music, is introducing The Purple Fest. Chennaites can now catch some of the best Indian bands and musicians, performing Live…on the last Thursday of every month, at Blend - the Hi Energy Bar at Taj Club House, Mount Road. The inaugural performance of The Purple Fest on 26th April will feature The Family Cheese.
RJ Rohan Sen, from Chennai Live, says, "The idea for Purple Fest came as a natural extension of our on-air segments- Indian Music Hour and Out of the Box- both of which were conceptualized in order to promote independent music and artists from India. Chennai itself has a vibrant community of talented musicians, who are just looking for a space to play. And we are just acting as the medium and giving them multiple platforms…"
"As a radio station, we have always been promoting independent musicians…be it on-air or otherwise. And that is why, unlike a regular commercial station, we play contemporary independent music during specific shows…and have complete non-commercial unplugged shows on a weekly basis...The Purple Fest is just another step towards the same cause," says Prem, COO of Chennai Live.
The Family Cheese, which will be performing on the inaugural night of The Purple Fest on 26th April, is a Blues, Rock and Progressive Rock band of three individuals- Apurv Isaac, Homi Rustumji and Yohan Marshall. The band was also the winner of Chennai Live's popular ‘BandHunt' competition last year.
