Kolkata, May 26, 2011
STAR Jalsha, the leader & pioneer in Bengali entertainment announced a host of delights for its viewers, continuing to redefine television viewing in Bengal starting June. With the motto of Chalo Paltai - bringing in the change, STAR Jalsha has will introduce two new off-beat family dramas shows mirroring social trends in contemporary society starting 13th June.
Aparajito, to be telecast at 10 pm Monday to Saturday, is the story of a single father struggling against all odds to bring up his two children. A show with a single father has never been attempted on Indian television and hence it's a first not only for Jalsha but for the Indian TV industry as well. In tune with Chalo Paltai, Jalsha is breaking the norm of having only heroines at the center of family dramas. Aparajito is the story of how a time comes when a father has to become a mother for two small kids. The show also marks the coming back of Jisshu on television as a hero and has the real life couple, Jisshu & Neelanjana, play husband and wife. Aparajito is being produced by Jisshu & Neelanjana's company, Blue Water Pictures.
Adwitiya, to be telecast at 10.30 pm, is Prosenjit Chatterjee's second venture with STAR Jalsha. Having started with the critically acclaimed Gaaner Oparey, their second show, Adwitiya is of a completely different genre. This is a story that talks about reverse brain drain. At a time when the best brains are leaving our cities to go abroad, Adwitiya talks about a bright, young girl going to a village and becoming the catalyst for progress. Again keeping with the theme of STAR Jalsha's Chalo Paltai, Adwitiya visually looks very different from what we have seen so far. It has the most extensive outdoor shooting ever done in Bengal and shows Sunderbans like we have never seen it in any serial before. This show is an example of how social messages can be intertwined with popular format and can be made into an entertaining family viewing serial.
Both these shows are being shot in High Definition and starting July 15th all the shows on STAR Jalsha will be shot in HD. This is in line with STAR Jalsha's commitment to provide its viewers with television viewing delight. And High Definition (HD) is set to change viewing all over the country and STAR Jalsha is readying itself to bring to the Bengali viewers international technology the option to enable High Definition (HD) format viewing for the growing discerning television viewers.
Come June 6th viewers of STAR Jalsha can watch the much popular afternoon prime time series - Tapur Tupur @ 8.30pm. On popular demand STAR Jalsha moves this engaging story of two sisters to the 8.30pm slot from Monday to Saturday.
The viewer delight does not stop here. Following the success of STAR Jalsha Parivaar Awards that garnered the highest ever TRP in the history of Bengali entertainment television, STAR Jalsha is again ready to enthrall its viewers with the third edition of STAR Jalsha Entertainment Awards 2011, the ultimate in 'Bangalir Binodon'. STAR Jalsha Entertainment Awards is a prestigious and the biggest awards ceremony that honours and felicitates the Bengali entertainment industry. In its third year, the Awards is a much awaited event not only for the stars and stalwarts in Kolkata but also a significant platform for the national entertainment industry to take note of the successes and triumphs and the growing popularity of Bengali entertainment. This event will be much bigger and entertaining this year with the presence of all the stars, celebrities and prominent Bengali personalities.
