Sashakt Foundation celebrates International Women's Day in support of the noble cause of Cancer Awareness

Press Release

Sashakt Foundation

New Delhi, March 07, 2019

Sashakt – The Ovarian Cancer Foundation is a response to appalling lack of awareness and apparent dearth of organisations working for Ovarian Cancer awareness in India. It's a non-profit organisation with the sole aim to make every woman in India sashakt (empowered) with knowledge and support to diagnose and fight the battle of ovarian cancer. It is committed to saving lives and supporting women. 'Sashakt' is a group of self-driven people on a mission to support those affected by ovarian cancer, give them a voice, provide them hope and raise awareness on a national scale.

One in every seventy-two women is diagnosed with ovarian cancer, in a lifetime. Unfortunately, 85% cases are diagnosed at Stage 3 or Stage 4, when the prognosis is really poor. However, if diagnosed and treated early, when the cancer is confined to the ovary, the survival rate is over 90 percent. That is why it is imperative that women, their families and the healthcare community recognise the early signs and symptoms of the disease.

'Sashakt' is organising Sashakt Teal Party on International Women's Day inviting around 20-30 prominent women from Delhi. The venue for the event is Worldmark, Aerocity on 8th March from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.

The colour of ovarian cancer ribbon is Teal. They have also designed "Teal Party Kits" which is an effort to create ovarian cancer awareness through fun. The kit includes collections of ideas and printables with everything required to conduct a fun teal theme kitty party. It will be made available online. There are lots of kitty-parties that happen all year round and to reach out to lots of women through this. 'Sashakt' is planning to launch these kits during the event.
