Elsie Nanji to put creatives to acid test at D&AD and Clio 2006 Awards

Nanji will judge the poster category at the D&AD and the television category at the Clios

Elsie Nanji, vice-chairperson and chief creative officer, Ambience Publicis, has been invited to be a jury member at both the D&AD and Clio 2006 Awards. Nanji will help review the poster category at the D&AD and the television category at the Clio Awards.

The 2006 D&AD Awards will be held in London in May. The Clio Awards will also be held in May, but the venue will be Miami Beach, Florida.

Speaking to agencyfaqs!, Nanji says, “It is quite an honour for any creative professional to be invited for the second time as a jury member at both the award ceremonies. D&AD is a very important event as the people of the creative circuit always look up to the ads that are honoured there. It is very difficult for an agency to even acquire a nomination at the D&AD Awards. My past efforts at the award ceremonies have proved to be a profound learning experience for me and I am looking forward to witnessing some fresh creatives again this year.”

Nanji was a member of the Clio jury committee for the television category in 2002. She was a jury member of the D&AD in the language category in 2004. Incidentally, Agnello Dias, senior vice-president and executive creative director of JWT India, has also been invited to judge the D&AD Awards 2006 in the film and television category.

Founded in 1962, D&AD is a UK-based educational charity that works on behalf of the international design and advertising communities. The D&AD Awards span 30 different categories, encompassing all aspects of creative communication from writing and art direction to architecture, graphic design, music videos and photography. The awards attract almost 23,000 entries annually from over 58 countries worldwide. The awards, popularly known as the Yellow Pencils (the silver awards are called the Yellow Pencils and the gold awards, the Black Pencils), are one of the most respected and prestigious creative awards in the design and advertising industry.

Founded in 1959, the Clio Awards were designed to celebrate creative excellence and innovation in advertising. The Clios inspire and pay tribute to one of the most interesting and influential art forms in modern culture. With the juries made up of more than 130 experts from 40 countries, the Clio Awards focus on creative work in the fields of advertising and design, specifically in the areas of television, print, outdoor, radio, content & contact, integrated campaign, innovative media, Internet, design and student work. The Clios also serve the global design and advertising communities through its annual conference, festival, publication, newsletter and screenings of winning work.
