India has won seven metals in the Films category at the 10th Asia Pacific Advertising Festival, 2007. These wins are one gold, two silvers and four bronzes. McCann-Erickson bagged the sole gold for its commercial for Happydent chewing gum, titled ‘Palace’, in the Film Confectionery category.

The ‘Palace’ commercial was heavily dramatised and a serious construction of a surreal world. It’s a world where there is no light and people chew Happydent chewing gum to keep their teeth white and dazzling like a flash bulb. Although the product in question is a low involvement category, the idea was to create wonderment by making the TVC memorable. ‘Palace’ has also won awards in the Film Craft category for Best Direction and Best Production Design (set, costume and model making) and a nomination for Original Music.

Everest Brand Solutions won a silver for its commercial on Raj Tours and Travels, titled ‘Desktop’, in the Film Transport, Travel, Tourism and Leisure category. The second silver went to the Enfield Thunderbird commercial, titled ‘Mom’, in the Film Automotive category; the ad was created jointly by Red Ice Films and A Advertising, Delhi.

Grey Worldwide won two bronzes for the Appy Fizz ‘Fridge’ commercial in the Film Non-Alcoholic Beverage category and for the Kiwi shoe polish ‘Kalu – The Shoe Thief’ commercial in the Film Household and Maintenance Products category.

The other two bronzes were won by Code Red Films and Leo Burnett. Code Red Films won the metal in the Film Public Service category for its commercial titled ‘Hostel’, created for the Eye Bank Association of India. Leo Burnett won the metal for its commercial on Tide detergent, titled ‘Bed Sheet’, in the Film Household and Maintenance Products category.

The results for the Radio category and Cyber category were also announced in the second half of the festival, along with those in the Films category.

Mudra won a gold in the Radio category for its radio spot on Big 92.7 FM, titled ‘Rape Campaign’, in the Radio Public Service category. Leo Burnett won a bronze in the same category for its radio spot on Cehat, titled ‘Girl Child’.

Web Chutney Studio won a lone bronze in the Integrated Cyber Campaign category for its ad for Perfetti Protex Happydent, titled ‘Daadu ki Amanat Microsite’.
