Dey takes over from Alok Lall, who quit the agency last month. V Shantakumar, managing director, Saatchi & Saatchi, says, “Dey has been with the agency in the past, and it is like a homecoming for him. He is competitive and passionate, and brings considerable experience on consumer durables and FMCG brands, which will assist the agency in moving ahead.”

A graduate of MICA, Dey began his career with Fountainhead Communications, Chennai, in 1993, as account executive. After working there for two years, he shifted base to Delhi and joined Everest as a senior account executive. He moved out of the agency in 1999 as account manager. This was followed by a short stint at Saatchi & Saatchi as group manager on Tata Tea and Panasonic. In 2000, he moved to Bates David Enterprise (then Enterprise Nexus) as account director and spent two years there.

Dey joined Grey Worldwide as client service director in 2002, and during his tenure there, was judged ‘Employee of the Year’. In the beginning of 2004, he quit Grey for his second stint at Bates David Enterprise (then Enterprise Nexus), this time as general manager. He went on to join Capital as vice-president in December 2005. In August 2006, with a major chunk of the LG business moving to Lowe, Dey moved to Lowe as vice-president on the account.

During his career, Dey has worked on brands such as Bharat Petroleum, Hyundai, Mother Dairy, Tata Tea, Panasonic, Radico Khaitan’s 8 PM and Magic Moments, Sony Handycam, Revital, Aviva Life Insurance and PepFiz.

Dey says, “I am back to join the agency because it is a brilliant opportunity for me to establish Saatchi & Saatchi as an agency that is poised to reach significant heights.”
