rmg david is medallist, TBWA in finals at New York Festival 2004

While rmg david has been named an assured medallist, TBWA India has got a finalist nomination at the New York Festivals 2004 International TV, Cinema & Radio Awards competition

As the awards season draws near, the excitement among advertising shops is getting palpable. And two of India's agencies are in focus already.

While rmg david has been named an assured medallist, TBWA India has got a finalist nomination at the New York Festivals 2004 International TV, Cinema & Radio Awards competition. rmg david's Delhi office has been shortlisted for its film titled ‘The Missing Bar' (in the Pharmaceutical category) for client One Plus Gold virility capsules. And TBWA, Delhi, has made an entry for its 'Dreams' ad for earthmoving equipment manufacturer JCB India in the Corporate Image category.

Expectedly, both the agencies are quite excited about the nomination and are eagerly awaiting the results. Speculation is rife at rmg david offices about "which medal" it would "bring home".

Here's a brief note on the two ads in the limelight. rmg david's The Missing Bar targets rural masses for virility drug One Plus Gold, a cheaper alternative to much hyped elder brother Viagra. The film is the effort of three people in the main - Josy Paul, country head & national creative director, rmg david, Amit Nandwani who has scripted the film, and Prasad Raghavan, who has directed it.

Incidentally, The Missing Bar had won a nomination at the London International Advertising Awards last year and was featured in the ‘Best of Asia Pacific', which showcases, as the name suggests, the best work that comes out of Ogilvy offices in the region.

On its part, TBWA's Dreams ad is the handiwork of a three-member team comprising copywriters Abhinav Pratiman and Titus, and Probir Dutt, creative director, TBWA India. Says Dutt, "The nomination will now proceed to compete for Gold, Silver or Bronze at the awards ceremony. Dreams has been conceived by TBWA's Delhi office and produced by the Xebec Film Team in Delhi on a shoestring budget." Interestingly, in August 2003, TBWA had achieved finalist status at the NY Fest 2003 in three categories of print. These included BonTon Opticals (single, Personal Items), BonTon Opticals (campaign, Personal Items) and Sony PlayStation (category: Toys & Games).

Quite obviously, the anxiety at these two agencies will persist till January 29, 2004, when the results of the Festival will be announced. © 2004 agencyfaqs!
