SSC&B joins band of Indian agencies at D&AD Sector Showcase

Joining the growing list of Indian agencies at this year’s D&AD Sector Showcase is SSC&B, with three press entries in the Fashion Sector Showcase

It's turning out to be quite a crowd of Indian agencies at the Awards Sector Showcase, which is a part of the D&AD Congress 2004. Joining the growing list of Indian agencies at this year's Sector Showcase is SSC&B (the others who have made it the Showcase comprise Alok Nanda and Company, Bates India, Saatchi & Saatchi India and JWT, Bangalore), with three press entries in the Fashion Sector Showcase.

Of the three selected entries, two have been created by SSC&B's Mumbai office, while one entry is the work of SSC&B, Bangalore. The Mumbai entries comprise a print campaign for Page 3, a readymade garment retail outlet, and a print ad for designer label Gavin Miguel Fashions. Speaking about the Page 3 campaign, Ajay Chandwani, president, SSC&B, says, "The campaign aims at generating traffic at the store by focusing on its exclusive range. The creative credit for the campaign goes to Raj Kamble (creative director, Lowe), while the photography is by Stefano Paterna. The print ad for Gavin Miguel Fashions is about the new range of designer dresses, titled Memories, which is built on the nostalgia of a moment in the past. The creative credit once again goes to Raj, and the ad has been photographed by Mahesh Hiremat." The third entry is a print ad for a retail outlet in Bangalore - Apsara Fashions. "The Christmas clearance sale for lingerie shows Santa Claus being unable to resist the sensual fabric. The ad has been created by Mahendra Bhagat," Chandwani adds.

This is the first time that the agency's work has been selected for display at the D&AD Showcase. "Right from its inception, SSC&B has always striven for global creative standards," says an excited Chandwani. "We are delighted to be showcased by D&AD. The Yellow Pencil is advertising world's most precious acquisition, and the D&AD is extremely prestigious and often elusive. So, even if we do not win an award, it is a great honour to be showcased at D&AD."

For the record, SSC&B is the first Indian ad agency to win a Gold Lion at Cannes - in 1996 for the Hexit ‘palms' press ad. The agency has won 91 international awards in the last six years, which include awards at the New York Festival (including a Grand Prix), the London International Festival and the Montreux Festival. The agency has also had a couple of One Show nominations. © 2004 agencyfaqs!
