Ibibo.com, Zee Business team up for reality show

Public ka Vitt Mantri will feature select bloggers, who will present their dream budgets before former finance minister Yashwant Sinha

Social media site Ibibo.com and TV channel Zee Business have come together for a financial reality show called Public ka Vitt Mantri.

The show will select five bloggers from Ibibo’s members to present their dream budgets before former finance minister Yashwant Sinha. The 10-episode show will begin on February 11 on Zee Business and Zee News.

Zee TV’s financial experts and reporters Naveen Soni, Mehir Bhatt, Geetu Moza and Chetan Sharma will also write blogs on Ibibo and ask questions on the site. To participate, Ibibo members have to write a blog on their dream budget and answer the questions posted by the Zee TV team.

Five participants will then appear on the show and present their versions of the budget to Sinha. The winner will be chosen on the basis of SMS votes by the public.

Speaking to agencyfaqs!, Vivek Bahl, general manager, community marketing, Ibibo, says, “Ibibo is a platform where people can express themselves and get recognition. We wanted to go to a different league, as TV is the largest medium in India.”

“For our multimedia campaign, we didn’t want to just do a TVC, but to take it further and build a connection with our users,” he says.

This is Ibibo’s first association with a TV channel and also Zee TV’s first show based on a website. Talking about the “online” nature of the show, Samir Ahluwalia, editor of Zee Business, says, “Blogs allow you to write in depth, which cannot be done in a simple SMS contest.”

Zee TV is promoting Public ka Vitt Mantri on Zee Business and Zee News through TVCs and also advertising it on the ticker. Ibibo is running a display campaign across several financial websites and also conducting a search marketing campaign. Ibibo has also developed a dedicated application for the show on the website, which has more than a million members.
