PepsiCo's Lloyd Mathias to join Motorola as marketing director

Mathias, executive vice-president, marketing, PepsiCo India, spent close to 11 years with the soft drinks major

Lloyd Mathias, executive vice-president, marketing, PepsiCo India, has decided to quit the soft drinks major after nearly 11 years.

He is expected to join Motorola as marketing director in early August.

PepsiCo India, sources say, is yet to decide on Mathias' successor. “The search is currently on,” a PepsiCo insider adds.

Mathias had joined PepsiCo India in 1994 as the marketing head for western India. By 1998, he had the responsibility for national promotions.

Mathias has been closely associated with many memorable Pepsi campaigns such as 'Hai koi jawab?', 'Pepsi cool maal', the popular music concerts and cricket properties built around brand Pepsi.

As executive vice-president, marketing, PepsiCo India, Mathias had the responsibility for a host of brands, including Mirinda, 7UP, Mountain Dew, Aquafina, Slice, Mangola and the Duke's range of soft drinks.

“The sheer energy in the telecom sector is extremely exciting, and I am looking forward to joining the second highest selling cellphone brand in the world,” Mathias told agencyfaqs! late Wednesday night.

The Indian telecom market has seen an unprecedented boom in the last five-six years – both in terms of users, emergence of mega brands and thousands of crores in revenues.
