At Standard Chartered, Chaudhuri will function as regional head, South Asia and group chief marketing officer, consumer banking.
Standard Chartered has roped in Sanjeeb Chaudhuri as regional head, South Asia and group chief marketing officer, consumer banking. Chaudhuri will look after both portfolios from the company's Mumbai office.
Chaudhuri was earlier chief executive officer (CEO), retail and commercial banking, Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, Citibank, while also holding the role of head, retail banking and chief marketing officer for Europe, Middle East and Africa. He was also a member of the Citi CEO Leadership Forum, the Citi Global Digital Council and the Citi Global Advertising Council.
Steve Bertamini, chief executive officer, consumer banking and group executive director, Standard Chartered says that the new appointment reflects the growing importance of South Asia in the company's consumer banking business, and the new stand-alone South Asia regional role will enable increased management focus on this dynamic region.
"Chaudhuri is an internationally experienced banker and a much-respected leader, with a reputation for driving change and innovation and delivering strong results. His track record of achieving his targets and his hands-on approach, is what we need to take our consumer banking transformation to the next level in South Asia, and thus, drive our brand recognition to greater heights, globally," Bertamini says in a press statement.
Neeraj Swaroop, regional chief executive, India and South Asia, Standard Chartered, says, "Chaudhuri's considerable experience will help us strengthen and grow the consumer banking business and increase brand recognition in a strategic growth market like India."
Chaudhuri takes over the South Asia mandate from Vishu Ramachandran, who maintains his responsibilities as regional head, Middle East, Pakistan and Africa. Chaudhuri takes on the chief marketing officer role from James Galloway, who has been appointed global head, preferred and personal banking.
