Amar Ujala AMCL 2012: Multi Screen Media is the regional finalist in Mumbai

Leaving competitors behind, last year's champions are gearing up to claim the winner's trophy again.

DDB Mudra versus Multi Screen Media

The first encounter of the knockout stage of the Mumbai edition of Amar Ujala Agency and Media Cricket League was between DDB Mudra and Multi Screen Media. The latter won the toss and decided to bowl first. Suman and Pinaki opened the batting order for Team DDB. While Suman scored 30 runs (off 24 balls, 1X4), Pinaki was run out at 14 runs (in 11 balls, 2X4). Team DDB struggled to face the stiff bowling attack and folded up at 71 runs. Srinivas of Multi Screen Media clinched two wickets, giving away 23 runs in three overs.

Due to the humble target, Team Multi Screen Media looked determined to sail through the inning. Vipin and Vishal opened the batting order from the side and scored 17 (off 13 balls, 1X4, 1X6) and 20 runs (off 10 balls, 3X4, 1X6), respectively. Pratik also scored 17 runs (in 10 balls, 2X4) and helped his team breach the set target. Team Multi Screen Media won the face-off by three wickets and Vishal Pandey of the side walked away with the Man of the Match title.

Bates versus UTV

The next match of the day was between Team Bates and Team UTV. The latter won the toss and decided to field. Opening the attack of Team Bates, Raviraj and Vishal looked determined to win the match. However, both the batsmen walked back after scoring humble 11 runs (off five balls, 2X4) and 13 runs (in eight balls, 2X4), respectively. The highest scorer from the side was Kamal, who managed 18 runs (off 14 balls, 1X4). Akhil of Team UTV cornered two wickets, but gave away 30 runs in three overs. Team Bates set the opponents a target of 92 runs.

Team UTV had a good opportunity to encash and fight for the top slot in Mumbai, but the unit didn't live up to the standards. Its opener, Sagar, went back at just five runs (off seven balls), while his partner Abid scored 14 runs (off nine balls, 2X4). Team Bates was seen struggling with the strong bowling attack from Vishal and Mukesh. Both the bowlers helped Team Bates by taking two wickets each. Team UTV couldn't meet the target and collapsed at a score of 82 runs. Team Bates won the decisive semi-final match by 10 runs and Vishal was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Multi Screen Media versus Bates

Wrapping up the Mumbai leg of Amar Ujala AMCL, the last face-off of the day was between Team Multi Screen Media and Team Bates. The latter won the toss and decided to bat. Team Multi Screen set a decent target of 107 runs, with a loss of four wickets. The chasing team couldn't meet the target, wrapping up the inning in just 67 runs. Ameya was the highest scorer of Team Multi Screen Media and scored 30 runs (off 16 balls, 2X4, 2X6). Supported by Pratik, Vipin and Prathamesh, he helped his team defeat the opponent. Mukesh of Team Bates clinched two wickets, giving away 27 runs in three overs.

Though Team Bates fought hard, none except Vishal Parab and Parag could stand the stiff bowling attack. While Parab scored 32 runs (in 23 balls, 3X4), Parag managed 30 runs (off 28 balls, 1X4). Ameya of Team Multi Screen Media was declared the Man of the Match as it was due to his strong performance that his side won the match by 39 runs and finally emerged as a contender for the champion of the tournament.
