Anil Dhupar bids farewell to ‘Dainik Bhaskar’, joins ‘Nai Dunia’ as CEO

After having spent 16 years at ‘Dainik Bhaskar’, Dhupar has finally decided to move to ‘Nai Dunia’

Anil Dhupar, senior vice-president, ‘Dainik Bhaskar’, has put in his papers after a 16-year association with the group. He has joined the Indore-based regional daily, ‘Nai Dunia’, as its CEO.

Confirming this development to agencyfaqs!, Dhupar says, “Indore happens to be my home town, so in that sense, I have an emotional attachment with this newspaper. After having spent 16 years with ‘Dainik Bhaskar’, it was time for me to move on to something even more challenging. I also wanted the freedom of being the captain of the team, rather than just another member.”

“‘Nai Dunia’ is predominantly a traditional paper, so the biggest challenge for me, as the CEO, is to strike a balance between ‘tradition’ and ‘moving with the times’. We need to bring its lost glory back to the paper and make it a strong brand once more. ‘Nai Dunia’ was the number one regional daily for a long time. We will make sure it reaches the top again,” he adds.

Dhupar’s key duties as CEO will include developing ‘Nai Dunia’ as a brand and supervising its circulation, finance and advertising. Dhupar also plans to revamp and upgrade the technology at ‘Nai Dunia’.

Dhupar is a science and law graduate from the University of Indore. He also holds a postgraduate diploma in mass management (PGDMM) from IGNOU, Indore.

He started his career in sales at JK Tyres, where he spent seven years. After another five years at Wearwell Tyres, Dhupar decided to move to the media industry, joining ‘Dainik Bhaskar’, Bhopal, in 1990. Later, he did short stints at the Jabalpur and Raipur branches of the paper, after which he finally shifted base to ‘Dainik Bhaskar’, Indore. His last move was in 2002 to ‘Dainik Bhaskar’, Delhi, where he looked after PR, advertising and corporate image-building.

For the record, ‘Nai Dunia’ is a 58-year-old Hindi daily, with a presence in Indore, Bhopal and Gwalior. It is also the first paper to launch a news website in Hindi.
