Mishra has been working in the advertising, film and marketing space for the last nine years

Alpana Mishra, business head, Leo Entertainment, has joined UTV Motion Pictures as vice-president, projects. She will report to Ronnie Screwvala, CEO, UTV India.

Speaking to agencyfaqs!, Mishra says, “I have been in the film marketing space for almost five years now. I wanted to move to the other side of the table and learn the A to Z of the film-making process. I was into marketing, which is just one aspect of the entire film business.”

Mishra, a postgraduate from MICA, started her career with Madison Advertising. After spending three years there, she moved to Lintas, where she spent one and a half years. She joined Leo Burnett in 2001 and was instrumental in laying the foundations for Leo Entertainment, the agency’s film and marketing division.

She adds, “There is a plethora of production houses in the city. However, I chose the offer from UTV because the ambience out here is that of an ad agency and my mindset matches with the culture of the organisation.”

Talking about her current profile in UTV, Mishra says, “My job is to undertake every film as a project and treat it as a brand. My involvement begins right from the developmental stages of the idea down to the script, then pre- and post-production. I will also be working very closely with the marketing and distribution department. My final mandate will be to execute an ideal theatrical release for the film.”

During her career, Mishra has worked on some powerful brands such as P&G and HLL. In UTV, she is currently working on the newly released film, ‘Rang De Basanti’. Other projects in the pipeline, ready for theatrical release, are ‘Taxi No 9211’ and ‘Chup Chup Ke’.
