Sahjwani takes over as Zoom’s chief creative and programming officer

Sunil Sahjwani has earlier worked with companies such as ETC Networks, Percept Picture Company and Reliance Entertainment

Sunil Sahjwani will now head lifestyle channel Zoom as its chief creative and programming officer. He has moved from his current corporate role as chief creative consultant, BCCL (Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd, the group that owns Zoom), and his mandate at Zoom is to establish all creative and programming responsibilities. Zoom’s programming and production teams will now report directly to him.

According to Suresh Bala, Zoom’s newly appointed chief executive officer, the channel needs to add a new dimension to its creative leadership to take it a step farther.

Sahjwani has spent around 27 years in such areas as advertising, film, radio and television. He has also worked for organisations such as BBC’s Channel 4 and CNN.

Among his national assignments, Sahjwani has worked with ETC Networks as director, programming, and Reliance Entertainment as vice-president, creative. Before he joined BCCL, Sahjwani worked with the Percept Picture Company as chief executive officer.

To his credit goes the success of ‘BPL Oye’, a popular show on Channel [V]. Sahjwani won the RAPA, Lions and Screen awards for this show. He also won the Indo-American Achievement Award in 2003.
