Turner’s Avinash Pillai moves to Radio One

After a short stint at Turner as national sales head, Avinash Pillai has joined Radio One, formerly called Go 92.5 FM, as vice-president, advertising and sales

Turner Entertainment India’s national sales head, Avinash Pillai, has joined Radio One as vice-president, advertising and sales. Radio One used to be known as Go 92.5 FM.

Pillai had put in his papers in March, but it is only now that he has officially taken up his new assignment.

Monica Tata, vice-president, ad sales, Turner International, confirmed the development to agencyfaqs!, but she declined to comment any further on it.

Urvashi Maira will reportedly step into Pillai’s shoes as national sales head at Turner. Maira used to head the Turner ad sales team in the North.

Pillai says he quit Turner for better career prospects. His experience at Turner, he says, taught him a lot.

“It was the challenge of setting up new projects that drove me to Radio One,” says Pillai. At Radio One, he has been entrusted with the responsibility of handling sales and advertising for the radio channels. The group has recently bagged licences for six more stations. His responsibilities will also include handling retail and corporate, identifying market potential and formulating marketing and advertising strategies.
